Apprenticeship as Concrete Worker

Always keeping the result in mind – impressive structures that can still be admired years later. Concrete workers in our precast plant are the experts when it comes to shaping concrete. They produce concrete components such as platforms, underpasses or bus stops according to plan. A profession with a strong future – because construction never stops.

During your apprenticeship, you will learn how to mix different types of concrete, pour them into formwork, reinforce them with steel and finish the elements afterwards. Together with your trainer and team colleagues, you will be involved in a wide range of projects – from façades to prefabricated platforms. If you enjoy teamwork and are ready to roll up your sleeves, HERING is the right place for you!

If you are interested in practical work and have a knack for craftsmanship, then an apprenticeship at HERING as a concrete worker is just right for you. You’ll encounter concrete everywhere as a building material – houses, factories, roads and bridges are all made from this carefully engineered mixture.

Your apprenticeship at HERING

HERING offers excellent apprenticeship opportunities. During your training as a concrete worker, you will always be supported by experienced trainers and by a dedicated teacher in our in-house classes, who will prepare you specifically for your lessons and exams. At HERING, you will be trained either in our precast concrete plant or on our various civil engineering construction sites.

01

How long does the apprenticeship take?

The apprenticeship usually starts on August 1.

Training as a concrete worker takes 3 years. After 2 years, you will have completed the staged qualification as a structural engineering worker, and in the 3rd year you will specialize as a concrete and reinforced concrete worker.

02

Is an apprenticeship in construction worth it?

An apprenticeship in construction is definitely worthwhile. Here is the current apprenticeship pay, depending on the year of training:

€1,080 | €1,300 | €1,550

On top of that, you’ll receive additional holiday and Christmas bonuses – plus 30 days of vacation per year.

Not bad, right?

03

How does the apprenticeship work?

In addition to your training time at the company, you will attend the Technical College in Siegen (block lessons). You will also take part in inter-company training courses at the Construction Training Center in Kreuztal-Fellinghausen.

This way, you’ll be perfectly prepared for your final exam.

04

What comes after the apprenticeship?

An apprenticeship is the perfect career start or a springboard for further qualifications. These are some of your options:

  • Advanced training as a foreman or senior foreman in structural engineering
  • Advanced training as a master bricklayer or master concrete worker
  • Degree studies in civil engineering or similar fields
